Big changes are coming to the process of Triple A Hockey Tryouts in what is being termed a one year pilot-project.
The move impacts the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
Scott Buffam, First Vice-President of the Ottawa Valley Titans believes the move is a course-correction for the sport of hockey, allowing more spare time for kids and families during the summertime.
Spring Tryouts will start in May when Associations will identify approx. 20 players.
Those identified players will move on to a final one day tryout session in late August–other than that final one day tryout session in August, players will have the summer off.
The 5 Triple A associations (Cyclones, Jr 67’s, Myers, Titans, Wild) along with 4 District Chairs from HEO Minor and the HEO Minor AAA Leagues have formed a working group to inaugurate the spring tryout format at the conclusion of the current season’s playoffs and provincial tournaments.
