It’s officially here, the first big snowstorm of the year. Environment Canada’s Winter Storm Warning is still in place and we can expect between 20 to 40 cm’s of snow on the ground when it’s all said and done. The heavy snow this morning will taper off to flurries later tonight. Winds will be gusting to 40 km/h today which will likely reduce visibility. Weather officials say that another 10-15 cm’s of snow will drop throughout the day. Tonight, the snowfall will ease up but the strong winds will remain. As a result of today’s storm, the Western Québec School Board has closed all their schools and daycare centres for the day. As well, school bus transportation for all English and French public and catholic schools in Renfrew County has been shut down but the schools do remain open.
