No injuries or major damage is being reported after a fire at a factory outside of Pembroke. An electrical short circuit inside an exterior wall is being blamed for a fire at the Pembroke Roseburg MDF Plant on Fibreboard Drive in Laurentian Valley on Saturday morning (Feb. 8th).
According to plant manager Alexandre Ouellette, the fire was contained to a small section of the facility and there were no injuries reported and no equipment was damaged. He adds there was no impact to the operation at the facility and workers were back on the job the same day. Ouellette says the whole team did a tremendous job addressing the issue in a timely manner and they were able to bring the plant back up during the same shift.
First responders were called out to the plant just after 7:00 am. Ouellette says firefighters left the scene around 11:30 am that morning, about 4.5-hours after they first got the call.
