Catholic school teachers in Ontario will hold another province-wide one day strike next week. The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association says its members will walk off the job on February 4th, the day after a one day strike by Renfrew County’s public elementary teachers and two days ahead of a similar province-wide withdrawal of services by elementary teachers at Ontario’s public boards. OECTA President Liz Stuart says she knows that Ontarians are growing impatient with these negotiations and they share their frustration. However, she says they can’t allow this government to wear them down and force them to accept devastating cuts to education. Minister of Education Stephen Lecce has previously accused the unions of needlessly escalating job action at the expense of students. There are no further bargaining dates booked with OECTA and the province.
