ETFO steps up rotating strikes, Renfrew County schools to be targeted twice next week

Local elementary teachers will hit the picket line twice next week. The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario has announced the latest round of rotating one day strikes that will happen if central agreements aren’t reached by Friday. Renfrew County public schools will be affected on Monday, and then again on Thursday, when all ETFO members province wide will walk off the job. It’s presumed that elementary schools within the Renfrew County District School Board will be closed that day, as they have been each day that a one day strike has taken place. ETFO President Sam Hammond says there is nothing to be gained by Education Minister Stephen Lecce avoiding meaningful and fair contract talks. Minister Leece has yet to publicly respond to this latest announcement from the union.
