The Arnprior Fire Department reminds residents that a clearly visible, accessible fire hydrant could save your home – or even your life.
You can perform a valuable public service and protect yourself, your family and your neighbours by taking the responsibility for shoveling out and clearing any fire hydrants near your home during and after a snowstorm.
Not only should hydrants be clearly visible, one should remove the snow three feet from all around the hydrant so firefighters have space to connect their hoses.
While you are out doing this good deed, check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and shovel out hydrants on or near their property.
