Hooray for Coaches Day is presented by Mickey’s Sports and Promotions. We are profiling Frank Belanger.
He’s hooked, and has been since the first time he saw them play. Frank Belanger has dedicated his time to Special Olympics sports since 1980 and at 70 years old, he has no intention of slowing down. Frank was first introduced to the Special Olympics when he worked with ARC Industries, now known as Community Living and he was invited to watch his first ball hockey game. He’s never looked back and still talks about the gold medal game in Vancouver back in 2014. He said it was one of the best games he’s ever seen played and was proud of his team, the Renfrew Millionaires, who brought home the national softball championship. Frank encourages everyone to give sports a try, regardless of your ability, he says it builds confidence and pride. Nothing makes him happier than watching a Special Olympics athlete find their shine and their love of the game.
