As educators and their unions continue with job action against the provincial government, McNab Braeside Township wants you to know there is another option for those scrambling to find childcare. Karla Blemkie, with the municipality’s recreation department says they came up with an idea at a committee meeting.
It runs from 8 until 4 and the cost is $20 per person which includes a snack for youth. However, you are expected to send a lunch, as well as skates and a helmet. Youth will need to have adequate outdoor wear, as well as indoor shoes. Blemkie says they tried to host these activity days on January 8 and 22, but no one took advantage of the program. She hopes the job action comes to an end sooner rather than later, but should there be further strike days, all school age youth, elementary and high school, are welcome to participate. In addition, this is not just for residents of the township, but for anyone in the surrounding area needing childcare for their children.
