A Cobden man is lucky to be alive after suffering serious injuries on Highway 17. According to his facebook page, Martin Burger and his son were already west of Renfrew, passing Storyland Road, when a chunk of ice flew of one of the oncoming cars and smashed through his windshield. His son called 911 and paramedics took Burger to the hospital in Renfrew. He needed eight stitches to his forehead, and four on the eyelid of his right eye. His eye was injured, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Burger spoke to police, but wasn’t able to describe the vehicle because it was too dark. In his post to social media, Burger is urging all drivers to ensure their vehicles are cleared of snow and ice before hitting the road.
