A 51 year old Laurentian Valley man is facing charges after being pulled over on his snowmobile. The OPP Snowmobile, ATV and Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Unit were on patrol last night when they stopped and checked a driver on OFSC B Trail near Robinson Road in Laurentian Valley Township. The driver was given a test using a roadside screening device and was then taken to the detachment for further testing. Police say they also determined the driver falsely identified himself. The man has been charged with impaired and obstruct peace officer. The accused had his license suspended for 90 days and their snowmobile impounded for seven days. He’s due to appear in court in March. Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment Commander Stephan Neufeld says “The OPP remains committed to ensuring our trails are safe from alcohol-impaired and drug-impaired drivers and that snowmobiling remains a safe recreational activity.
