Local elementary teachers plan one day strike Tuesday

The Renfrew County District School board will be hit with another one day strike next week. This time, it will be members of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario that will be out of class for the day on Tuesday January 21st. The board has not yet confirmed what its plans are for dealing with this job action, though schools have been closed with every strike so far. ETFO President Sam Hammond says unless the government makes an immediate effort to engage in serious talks, they will have no option but to further escalate strike action. The union says that as of today, Minister Lecce has established no dates for contract talks.
