The Renfrew Pee Wee Timberwolves are trying for a big win OFF the ice. The team is in the the 2020 Chevy Good Deeds Cup competition, trying to win 100 thousand dollars to help out their community. The Cup is awarded each year to a minor hockey team that has the biggest impact in their community. This weekend, the Pee Wee Wolves will be raising money for the Oncology Unit at Renfrew Victoria Hospital. Team Captain Owen Daber (day-ber) says they recently went for a tour of the unit and learned about how important it is to Renfrew and area.
On Saturday from 10 to 1, the team will be at the No Frills, Metro and Canadian Tire in Renfrew, where they will bag groceries, and even carry them out to your car, or help customers in any way they can in exchange for a small donation. If they win the Good Deeds Cup, the team hopes to donate the prize money to build a second ice pad at the Mateway Activity Centre.
