It’s become an all-too-familiar story: No obstetric service at Shawville Hospital- but this is the first time it has happened in 2020.
The CISSS de l’Outaouais advises that a service interruption which was to have ended Friday January 3rd has been extended to 8AM Monday January 6th.
This is because there is no surgeon available to perform emergency C sections if the procedure is required.
The obstetrics nursing team has been staffed during the holiday break, and had been prepared to resume duties Friday but due to the absence of a surgeon qualified to perform cesarian sections, pregnant women will be redirected to Gatineau Hospital after their evaluation in Shawville.
Future mothers affected by the service interruption have been advised.
Obstetrics services will resume at Shawville Hospital Monday January 6th at 8AM.
