Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Renfrew County. A major winter storm is expected Sunday afternoon into Monday. Environment Canada says significant ice accumulation is possible and widespread power outages are expected where freezing rain is the primary type of precipitation.
Travel is expected to rapidly deteriorate Sunday afternoon except toward early evening in the Ottawa to Cornwall area. The Ottawa Valley will likely see periods of snow and ice pellets develop late Sunday changing to freezing rain early Monday morning and then to drizzle or freezing drizzle Monday afternoon.
A freezing drizzle advisory is currently in effect across Renfrew County. The threat of freezing precipitation is expected to end later this morning as temperatures slowly rise above the freezing mark. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice.
Freezing Drizzle Advisory & Special Weather Statement in effect for:
- Barry’s Bay – Killaloe – Eganville
- Petawawa – Pembroke – Cobden
- Renfrew – Arnprior – Calabogie
