The lighting at Renfrew’s ball diamonds is inadequate and needs to be replaced. With that in mind, Renfrew council approved the purchase and installation of new lights for both the Tye and Rusheleau diamonds at Ma-Te-Way. The estimated cost is 137 000 dollars. 70 000 dollars for the Tye diamond was originally budgeted for the work in 2018, but was held over to 2019; in addition. another 70 000 was ear marked for Rusheleau. Installation will come from the 2020 budget, and the work will be overseen by rec staff, with the assistance of local contractors and Renfrew Hydro. Council and staff opted for concrete poles as opposed to wood.
