Out with the old and in with the new. Renfrew Recreation is replacing their back up 1998 ice resurfacer with a newer model at a cost of $81 000. The older machine was back benched to back up after the purchase of a new one back in 2014. The brand new Olympia Millennium, which is expected to arrive in twelve months, will be used in rotation with the 2014 model to maximize trade-in value. The recommended life span of these units is 8 years. The money is coming from the 2019 capital budget, approved by council earlier this year and there’s currently $30 000 sitting in reserves. Council anticipates another $5000 will be added to the pot by the time the new ice resurfacer arrives.
