Local seniors clubs and facilities in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke are receiving a portion of the Province’s $14.1 million that’s earmarked for Seniors Active Living Centre programs. the Province says that this funding is important as these programs help to ensure that seniors maintain healthy active lifestyles and stay connected to those in their community.
Recipients locally include Centre Lajoie des ainé(e)s francophones de Pembroke, the Community Resource Centre Inc. in Renfrew County, the Township of Eganville and District Seniors Bonnechere Valley, the 50+ Active Living Centre in Pembroke, Renfrew and Area Seniors’ Home Support and the Grove Arnprior & District Nursing Home, each are receiving $52,727. In addition, the Township of Opeongo Seniors Centre Madawaska Valley who is getting $49,802 and the Silver Threads Seniors Club of Petawawa who’s getting $39,027.
Local MPP John Yakabuski says that these centres are a hub for seniors and their families and help them to build positive connections which then in turn help everyone’s well-being.
