Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation are hosting information pickets to help spread their message. A few started yesterday, but most begin this morning (Thursday). It’s the Union’s hope to share the information that’s at the heart of the first phase of sanctions with members of the community. Teachers are protesting cuts to education made by Doug Ford’s Conservatives, including increased class sizes which has led to a loss of courses for students and layoffs for teachers. You can find pickets in Arnprior, outside of ADHS and Walter Zadow before (7:45 to 8:15) and after school (2:25 to 2:55), as they walk up John Street to the corner of John and Madawaska. There will also be staff picketing outside of the gates of Madawaska from 7:50-8:10am and 2:25-2:45pm, Opeongo teachers will be outside of the gates of the school this morning and the Cobden Legion this afternoon. Tuesday they’ll return to school property to picket outside of the gates until 8:15am. Meanwhile educators of RCI will continue their picket outside of the school this morning and tomorrow (Friday), as well as Monday and Tuesday from 7:40 until 8:10am.
