Nursing shortage blamed for another break in Obstetric service at Pontiac Hospital

Another break in service for the Obstetrics Department at the Pontiac Hospital in Shawville. The Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center says there will be a lack of nursing staff in Obstetrics from Sunday night around midnight until Tuesday night at 8:00pm. Staff say pregnant women in labour will be redirected to the Gatineau Hospital after being evaluated at the Pontiac Hospital. Back in October, a mother had to deliver her baby in the ambulance as she was redirected to the Gatineau Hospital. There were half a dozen breaks in service in the Obstetrics department last month at the Pontiac Hospital.  Mothers who are expecting have been notified about the upcoming break in service.
