A delegation to Greater Madawaska Council recently came forward to express concern about what they see as the declining frequency of maintenance on Murphy Road in the Township.
Stretches of the road are a safety hazard, according to residents Steve Wellman and Don Strachan.
The pair cited a particularly sudden drop-off on a section of Murphy Road near Ashdad, and patches which are naturally swampy that can go ungraded for two to three weeks at a time following a heavy rain.
The duo suggested the Township could adopt a worst-to-first road maintenance policy, or even sub-contract for the work.
Wellman and Strachan maintain they now only see a Township grader two or three times a year, but Jamie Doering, the Greater Madawaska Public Works Manager brought documentation to the meeting showing Murphy Road had been graded on seven occasions since April.
He said new road signs for Murphy Road will be purchased in 2020.
