As the County of Renfrew looks at revising speed limits on its roads and highways, the Township of Greater Madawaska has one it wants to add to the list.
Mayor Brian Hunt says consensus around the Council table is to add County Highway 511, Lanark Road, through the village of Calabogie to the roster.
Hunt says the configuration of the road through the heart of Calabogie calls out for the slower speed limit, and they’d like to see it go from 60 kilometres an hour down to 40 km/hr.
Mayor Hunt says posting the designated speed as forty kilometres an hour is a valuable enforcement tool.
The County is looking to collect responses from all seventeen member municipalities on highways and roads in the County network by November 22nd.
They have also sought recommendations from the OPP.
