Renfrew County teachers with the Catholic School board are joining their colleagues across the province to send a strong message to the provincial government. Members of the Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association voted in favour of job action. Ninety-seven percent said yes to a strike if a deal can’t be reached. OECTA is now the third major teachers union to have sent the same message to the provincial government. The province says it’s focused on reaching a deal that will help keep kids in classrooms. Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association president Liz Stuart says members won’t accept an agreement that would be detrimental to learning and working conditions in schools. A strike deadline has not yet been set.
