Elizabeth May has announced her resignation as Green Party leader, a post she had held since 2006.
She will remain as caucus leader of the Green Party in the House of Commons, and a convention will be held in October of 2020 in Charlottetown PEI to determine her successor.
Nationally the Green Party had its best-ever showing in the October 21st federal election, winning 1,162,361 votes and electing three representatives to the House of Commons.
In Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, Green nominee Ian Pineau placed fourth among ten candidates, polling 5.5 percent of the vote.
