County of Renfrew staff, elected officials and the Mayor of the Town of Renfrew are all encouraged by a meeting last Thursday with Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski and Minister of Long-Term Care Merrilee Fullerton.
The purpose of the face-to-face was to review existing services and discuss potential models of care involving both Paramedic Services and Long-Term Care staff.
There were three stops on the tour: a visit to the County Paramedic base, a visit to a Community Paramedic patient and a stop at Bonnechere Manor.
There are currently 1,200 people in Renfrew County on the Long-Term Care waitlist, and our local representatives were encouraged that both Ministers appear to be paying attention to the plights of both Paramedic Services and Long-term Care facilities.
