Residents in Pembroke gathered outside of City Hall for a climate strike. The protest took place on Friday afternoon and was organized by Grade 12 student Emily Eadie. She’s a student at Equinoxe School in Pembroke and says it’s nice to see people of all ages out showing their support. Eadie says they’re taking a stand for the environment and trying to raise awareness about climate change.
Some participants wore winter jackets and ear-muffs as they waved signs to passing traffic that read “there’s no planet B” or “we’re skipping our lessons to teach you one”. Eadie adds the next big climate strike planned by teen activist Greta Thunberg is coming up at the end of November and they plan to rally again in Pembroke.
