Some new purchases could be good news for Renfrew residents. Council recently approved nearly $65 000 in expenditures for the Development and Works Department, including $28 000 for five position folding plows as well as two rear salt and sand spreaders, an asset in snow removal on local sidewalks. A report to council indicates the plows are useful in keeping driveways clear as staff plow sidewalks rather than leaving a wind roll. As for the sanding units, Director Mike Asselin says they’re long overdue, they’re larger, with tail lights and can go further distances before having to refill. The municipality is also investing 20 grand in a new 20Kw trailer generator, which will keep pump stations running during power outages. All purchases are a part of the 2019 capital budget.
