Local elementary teachers hold strike vote

The union representing Renfrew County’s public school teachers and support personnel has asked its members if they’re willing to strike to back contract demands. The four Renfrew County locals of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario met last night to take a strike vote, but the results won’t be known until the end of the month, when the rest of the locals in Ontario have had their say as well. The final strike vote is set for October 30th. Allison Ryan, head of the Renfrew Teacher Local of ETFO says they’ve been clear that they are defending Ontario’s world class education system.

The ETFO has four locals in Renfrew County, representing teachers, occasional teachers, education support and professional support personnel. They have been without a contract since August 31st.
