A plan to reduce the plowing priority on twelve Town streets as a cost savings is running into some public opposition in Arnprior.
The Council Chamber was packed for Monday’s municipal meeting, as representatives entertained two delegations – one representing Arthur Street residents, while Aaron Valeke spoke for those who live on Charles.
There are forty kids attending the various schools in the community, and most of the children in the neighbourhood are under seven years old.
Valeke understands the Town is looking to save $70 000 by cutting back on when streets are plowed and sidewalks are cleared.
The Charles Street resident thinks it will be good if Council can revisit its decision before the first snowfall.
Mayor Stack says Council will ask the Director of Engineering to examine the requests and report back in time for the next municipal meeting.
