Canadian rock band Glass Tiger is coming to Pembroke. The band from Newmarket, Ontario has been nominated for a Grammy and has two singles that reached the U.S. Top 10 including “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone) and “Someday”. The debut album for Glass Tiger went quadruple platinum in Canada and gold in the United States. The lead guitarist and one of the founding members of Glass Tiger, Al Connelly, says they have released a new album this year and those who attend the upcoming show will hear some of the classics mixed in with new hits.
Connelly says he actually has roots in Pembroke and remembers living in the area in his early teens between 1969 and 1974. He says he played guitar in his early teens when living in Pembroke and all these years later, he’s made a successful career out of it.
Glass Tiger plays at Festival Hall in Pembroke on November 30th. Tickets for the show are $56.50 plus taxes and fees and available online here. The guitarist says one of the most inspiring moments he’s witnessed in his time with Glass Tiger comes from earlier this year. Right before kicking off their tour in the spring, lead singer Alan Frew broke his neck in two places. Connelly says within two weeks he was back up and ready to perform in front of a crowd on the east coast.
Connelly says they received a standing ovation at the end of the set and it was inspirational. He adds if you want to make it big, keep your eye on the ball, be creative, be good at what you do and with a little luck you never know what might happen. Connelly says even if it doesn’t happen, at least you’ll know you gave it your best shot and it’s a skill you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.
