The Canadian Centre for policy alternatives has broken down the funding cuts for education imposed by the provincial government. Their figures show that only four of the 72 school boards in Ontario will see an increase in per student funding. For the 2019-2020 school year, the Ontario government is transferring $430 million less to school boards than the amount transferred in 2017-2018. It equals out to a two percent cut in total operating funding. Locally, the Canadian Centre for policy alternatives map shows the Renfrew County District School Board is losing $4.7 million in operating funds or $371 per student. The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is losing less than the public board but still shows a decrease in $307 in funding per student.
