Killaloe OPP are investigating the death of an elderly woman in Madawaska Valley township. Police were called around 11:30 Sunday morning to Waxwing Lane, where the woman had been reported missing. A short time later, police, with the assistance of the local fire department and paramedics found a body floating off of the shoreline of Hyde’s Bay, on the Madawaska River. The deceased has been identified as 78 year old Irena Michalska of Ottawa. The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Renfrew County Crime Unit are looking into the case but at this time, police have deemed the death as not suspicious. A post mortem has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
