Bonnechere Valley is considering getting a drone for the fire department. Fire Chief Dave Murphy brought up the idea at the town council meeting on Tuesday (August 6th) and says they would be looking to get a drone next year. He says they have one advanced pilot who is able to fly drones and would be looking to get two others trained. Murphy says having this equipment would help them in a number of different ways.
Council was supportive of the idea and the mayor made a recommendation to talk with county paramedics to get an idea for costs. During the flooding the drone was used extensively and paramedics are able to air lift in supplies to those in need.
