Momentum is building for this month’s 9th Annual Tour de Bonnechere Pedal for Mental Health. It incorporates a cycling ride through the Ottawa Valley along with social conversations about wellness and de-stigmatizing mental illness. Event Co-Chair Suzy Wells says this year Pembroke’s own Naomi Fong is the Tour’s keynote guest and speaker.
Wells says the Tour, which is now co-managed and supported by North Renfrew Family Services and the Phoenix Centre, could not succeed without its many unpaid volunteers. Tour de Bonnechere is Sunday August 18, starting in Eganville. The cycling portion of the event is broken into several routes. One is as short as 20 kilometers. For the more enthusiastic rider there’s a100K route.
