With temperatures expected to hit in the thirties today, a heat warning continues this morning. We’re expecting a high of 33 degrees with the humidex soaring that to 39 degrees. There could be a slight reprieve with a slight chance of showers and the chance of a thunderstorm today. It’s looking a little cooler tonight, but sleeping may still be warm, we’re looking at a low of 19 degrees. A cold front is expected to pass through the area, bringing with it slightly cooler temperatures tomorrow, but we could still experience a humidex in the low thirties. You’re encouraged to drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place, do not leave elderly, children or pets in a parked vehicle and eat cool, light meals. Risks of heat exhaustion or heat stroke are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults as well as people with chronic illnesses and those who work outdoors.
