For decades there have been ongoing discussions on the lack of
residential addiction treatment services for women in Renfrew County.
Now advocates say they’re a step closer to their goal.
Mackay Manor recently began operating a day service out of the old
Irving House in Pembroke. It’s a 12 bed state of the art live-in treatment
centre that sat empty for two years.
Tom Carroll Director of Special Projects at MacKay Manor says they’re applying for
provincial government funding to once again offer residential addiction treatment at the facility.
If the money comes through, Carroll says the for women only residential treatment centre
could begin operating as early as sometime next year.
