Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the region as the forecast calls for daytime temperatures in the low 30s with humidex values nearing 40 degrees today and again tomorrow. What makes it worse is that there will be little relief overnight as the humidity hangs around. Luckily, a cooler and less humid air mass is expected to arrive in the wake of a weak cold front Sunday. The risks for heat stroke are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. You are also being reminded to never leave pets inside a parked vehicle.
