Greater Madawaska residents won’t notice the change in the Township’s recycling arrangements, but with the closure of Beauman Waste Management, municipal staff are now trucking the product a little further up the road.
Mayor Brian Hunt says there were hints the former service provider was experiencing difficulties.
The Mayor says Township crews now take the materials to the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) on Woito Road near Pembroke.
The OVWRC tipping fees are higher than the previous service provider and there are increased transportation costs.
