County council has received a letter listing several concerns about the roll-out of 5G. The county is looking to access funds through the CRTC to expand cellular broadband and increase internet speeds to under served areas. A concerned resident in Renfrew County has openly voiced concerns that there are alternative ways to gain better cell and internet service without exposing citizens to this radiation. The individual wrote a letter to the Warden, CAO and all members of county council saying that 5G is not safe and wired access to communication services would not expose residents to extreme radiation pollution. The resident says follow the money and see who is willing to expose Renfrew County to this experiment. The individual wanted to make county council aware of the dangers of being a test area for technology that hasn’t been tested for biological effects. The Development and Property Committee has passed a resolution saying that if 5G cellular network service becomes a possibility in Renfrew County they will provide information as it becomes available and at this point there is no stance on the issue.
