A multi-vehicle pileup on Highway 417 just outside of Arnprior has claimed the life of two people. Reports indicate that OPP officers were following a vehicle eastbound on Highway 417 as part of an investigation. Due to safety concerns officers stopped. A short time later the vehicle was reported to be eastbound in the westbound lanes and involved in multiple collisions. Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene and two people were transported with life-threatening injuries. The highway was shut down in both directions between Panmure and Kinburn Side Road as a part of the police investigation but has since been reopened. The Special Investigations Unit has now joined the case.
