The heat and humidity are stirring up a warning and a watch in the Ottawa Valley. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning, with humidex levels predicted to hit 41 degres this afternoon. We won’t experience much of a reprieve tonight with the low expected to sit around the 20 degree mark. High humidex levels will most likely continue into Saturday but a cold front coming in later in the day should cool things down for the rest of the weekend. Coupled with the crippling heat is a severe thunderstorm watch this afternoon, which could continue into the early evening. Storms can bring with them strong winds and the potential for severe weather such as hail and heavy rain. You’re reminded to stay cool and hydrated, avoid being out in the intense heat if possible and if a storm rumbles through, take necessary precautions and stay indoors.
