Olmstead-Jeffrey Lake Road residents packed Whitewater Region Township Council chambers Wednesday in support of presenters Bill Reid and Peter Poff.
The pair expressed a number of concerns over a municipal plan to return a portion of their road to gravel surface.
Reid told elected representatives the Township had itself contributed to the Olmstead-Jeffrey Lake Road’s deteriorating condition by patching potholes with stonedust.
Chief Administrative Officer-Clerk Robert Tremblay said the reversion to a partial gravel surface was planned as a temporary measure, while the municipality waited to see if its application for Provincial funding for the roadwork was successful.
Reid told Council that the 95 taxpayers who live along the road would rather see the Township delay the roadwork til next year and do it right.
Council agreed with residents, and reversed its earlier decision on the temporary fix.
