Tributes are pouring in from across the Ottawa Valley for a young man who was known for his skill on the ice and the smile he gave everyone.
Brody Rose, who wore #23 for the U18 Rep team in Petawawa, passed away over the weekend from injuries he suffered when he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike in Petawawa Thursday night.
Minor hockey groups from Eganville, Renfrew and Barry’s Bay are among those sharing messages of support and condolences for his family and the Greater Petawawa Minor Hockey Association, which Brody played for.
The Barry’s Bay Minor Hockey Association had a 23 second moment of silence at its home games Sunday to honour Brody. A post from the association on social media reads “the rink was quiet, but our love and support for his family and teammates speaks volumes.”
Hyska’s Your Independent Grocer, where Rose worked, also shared an online tribute, saying “Our lives were made better by knowing you and you will never be forgotten.”
A 23-second moment of silence was also observed at some minor hockey games in Petawawa on Sunday, to remember Brody and honour his life.
Greater Petawawa Minor Hockey said “Brody was a remarkable young man and an outstanding player who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
