Making the move to the Ottawa Valley was an easy decision for the newest physician at Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Senior staff officially welcomed Dr. Artabaz Nazari to the community at a small ceremony last week as he prepares to split time between his new family practice inside Renfrew’s Health Village and supporting care inside the hospital.
He says RVH made a great impression during his first visit to the area, and the opportunity to put his residency experience serving rural patients to use makes it a perfect fit.
On top of his own practice, Dr. Nazari will also offer coverage in RVH’s emergency department and assist in ambulatory care, medical day care, hospitalist care, complex continuing care, and surgical assist.
Being able to recruit someone with the skillset and eagerness to take on that workload is an exciting moment for the hospital’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Amanda Low.
The goal is to bring Dr. Nazari’s roster of primary care patients up to around 800 in total, in line with other physicians in the area, as he gets settled within the local healthcare network.
Meanwhile, the push to bring more physicians to Renfrew will continue, as Dr. Low says the hospital has had promising conversations that she hopes will become the manpower that will fit the needs of the community.
