Renfrew Collegiate Institute invited its top students to the school’s annual Honours Luncheon, which packed the myFM Centre community hall on Thursday, October 1st.
In total, 120 students were welcomed by RCI faculty and the Renfrew County District School Board, with RCDSB Director of Education Kristen Niemi and Superintendent Scott Nichol handing out Renfrew County medallions to celebrate their academic achievements in Grades 7, 9, 10, and 11.
It’s a tradition that RCI has now enjoyed for 28 years, and one that teacher Megan Lester covers much of their students’ journey through post-secondary education.
Principal Neil Farmer adds that it’s RCI’s job to encourage every student to keep getting better, no matter where they are at, and that the hard work and success that comes with it really shine at events like the annual luncheon.
Families and guardians joined students inside the hall to cherish what was a proud and sometimes surprising moment for those in attendance.
Farmer also points out that the annual luncheon recognizes last year’s successes, but it’s an honour that students can always strive for ahead of the next luncheon in 2027.
