If you’ve been through the RioCan shopping area in Renfrew lately, you’ve probably noticed something new behind the windows of a former retail space.
Signs posted in the storefront suggest that Firehouse Subs is preparing to open a location in the plaza, adding another national brand to an area that has seen significant investment and change over the past few years.
For local residents, it’s another sign that the shopping hub continues to evolve. The plaza has already welcomed a new Shoppers Drug Mart and seen major upgrades to the No Frills store. Now, it looks like one of Canada’s growing restaurant chains is getting ready to join the mix.
The storefront windows are covered with Firehouse Subs promotional material, including advertisements for the chain’s signature sandwiches and a “We’re Hiring” notice, indicating preparations are underway ahead of an opening.
For many in Renfrew and the surrounding Valley communities, it means one more dining option closer to home.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but judging by the activity at the storefront, Firehouse Subs could soon be serving its first customers in Renfrew.
