An incumbent councillor in Renfrew says he is seeking re-election to ensure town hall remains open and transparent about its decisions.
Andrew Dick says that, while he is interested in returning for a second term to work alongside Renfrew’s next mayor and council team to curb rising taxes for residents, his greatest impact as a singular councillor will be to keep the town and its staff accountable.
He is also looking to continue the push to bring new housing and development, including recent discussions to bring a hotel to Renfrew and a potential collaboration with the township of Admaston/Bromley and an interested developer to bring grant funding and shared services to a proposed community of 400 homes built around Dragonfly Golf Links.
He says the math behind backing the project, and building more homes in general, lines up with his goal to help ease the tax burden residents are facing in Renfrew.
Along with his last four years as councillor, Andrew, a born-and-raised Renfrew resident, operates multiple businesses within the community. He also is a My Broadcasting Corporation employee, working with our sister station in Pembroke.
He originally intended to run for mayor but stepped away from campaigning earlier this summer due to health concerns. However, a recent optimistic prognosis has given him reason to re-enter the conversation for another four years inside council chambers.
Andrew Dick is one of ten candidates in a crowded race for six council seats in Renfrew. He is joined on the ballot by Kyle Cybulski, Hayley Heaslip, Sandi Heins, Guy Longtin, John McDonald, Clint McWhirter, Scott Miller, Bruce Rozycki, and Kate Windle.
