There is a new person leading the way for Junior A hockey in the Ottawa Valley.
Central Canada Hockey League Commissioner Jesse Winchester has informed the league’s Board of Governors that he has chosen to step down ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The CCHL credits Winchester for working with their member clubs, Hockey Eastern Ontario, and Hockey Canada through a significant period of change in the year since he assumed the role in September 2025.
“On behalf of the Board of Governors, we would like to thank Jesse for his leadership and commitment to the CCHL during an important year for our league,” said Board Chair Sue Collis. Jesse approached the position with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to our players and member clubs. We are grateful for his contributions and wish Jesse and his family the best moving forward.”
Longtime junior hockey executive Ian MacInnis has been appointed to replace Winchester effective immediately, bringing extensive experience and a strong familiarity with the CCHL, its member clubs, and the broader junior hockey landscape, according to the league.
“The Board has tremendous confidence in Ian and his ability to lead the CCHL,” Collins adds. “His experience, relationships, and understanding of junior hockey will provide the league with strong leadership and continuity moving forward.”
Meanwhile, Winchester says he is extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as CCHL Commissioner. “Junior hockey is built on people who care deeply about the game, their players, their teams, and their communities, and I have tremendous respect for the time and energy they devote to the sport.”
