The rain didn’t stop people from gathering to remember a loved one they had lost.
On Sunday, August 30th, Renfrew and Area Seniors’ Home Support held their inaugural memorial butterfly release at their offices on Raglan St. S.
Originally set for O’Brien Park, the ceremony had to move indoors due to rain.
Speakers from the community shared their stories with a presentation from Hospice Renfrew and live, soothing music.
Participants then received the butterflies to release privately on their own terms.
Dennis Harrington, Executive Director of Renfrew and Area Seniors’ Home Support says the day is important for remembering our loved ones who have passed away by bringing the community together.
Harrington is very pleased with the turnout. Forty people registered to participate, making it a very successful first edition.
When asking Harrington if the event would return, he responded with a very firm, “Yes!”
