A craft show honouring the life of a mother and skilled crafter will be back at the Renfrew Wing this fall.
Organizer Faye Hamel says the 2nd annual Handcrafts for Hospice, slated for October 24, will look to build on last year’s event, which saw 43 vendors join forces with sponsors to collect close to $2,000 in support of palliative care at Hospice Renfrew.
The event was created as a day dedicated to local crafters and all things crafting in remembrance of Hamel’s mother, Joyce, a long-time cancer survivor who often enjoyed gifting her works to friends and family.
Faye says the care Joyce received under the care of Hospice Renfrew’s staff was a short but beautiful moment during what were her mom’s final days.
She adds that the cause struck a chord with many of the vendors who joined her at the Wing last year, with around 30 already committing to being in attendance this fall and space for the event to grow even bigger.
Table space can be purchased for $25 each, with all proceeds supporting Hospice Renfrew. Interested vendors are encouraged to reach out to Hamel on Facebook or by email as she looks to plot out important information ahead of the event, such as accessibility and power needs for each vendor.
