Officials have put a deadline on summer fun along Round Lake as they prepare for next spring.
Renfrew Power Generation and the Round Lake Property Owners Association have given notice to residents and visitors making use of the water and its surrounding banks that water levels on Round Lake will be gradually lowered starting on Labour Day, Monday, September 7.
This practice happens annually as both organizations look to protect local wildlife and property from high water that occurs during the spring thaw.
RPG is urging those using the lake to familiarize themselves with the drawdown process to avoid areas that may become unsafe for boating, ice fishing, and snowmobiling over the coming fall and winter.
The drawdown may make it especially difficult for boat owners to remove their vessels if left for too long.
